Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright has been speaking to IGN about his upcoming projects. In addition to Them, which has been described as ‘a conspiracy comedy about one woman’s journey to unmask the secret rulers of the world’, Wright is also set to lens adaptations of comic book properties Ant Man and Scott Pilgrim.
‘Ant Man is in a bit of a holding pattern.‘ said Wright, ‘We’re figuring things out with the script and we haven’t initiated casting. We still have quite a bit to do. I expect I’ll have more to say about it in a few months. I’m also going to be working with Sean O’Malley on Scott Pilgrim. It’s incredibly exciting because I’m such an admirer of his work. We haven’t really started on this yet. We’ve traded some ideas, so again it’s very much all in an early formative stage.‘
Wright also confirmed that he and Simon Pegg will be reteaming for an as yet undecided new feature.

Anthony Daniel, known to all the world (or at least our entire readership) as the golden protocol droid C-3PO from the Star Wars movies, updated his official website with news on Clone Wars 3D - the animated new Star Wars series slated for 2008: ‘Just finished another top secret recording session on Clone Wars - Thrilling stuff!’
What’s interesting is that the text has been altered. According to StarWars-Union, it originally read ‘…top secret recording session on Clone Wars - Chapter 11 - Destroy Malevolance.’ Looks like somebody got into trouble for slipping out information early and was forced to remove it!

Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated new film 300 celebrated its world premiere at the Berlin film festival this week. The film is an adaptation of Frank Miller’s epic graphic novel about the battle between 300 Spartans against tens of thousands of Persian soldiers in 480 B.C.
A press release sent out by Warner Bros. claims that the screening was followed by cheers and a standing ovation. Snyder, who together with the film’s principal actors Gerard Butler and Rodrigo Santoro attended the showing, is quoted as saying: ‘It was great being at the world premiere and witnessing the the audience’s excitement.’ Meanwhile, Cineman reports that various attendees wrote on their film blogs that 300 was met with just as much boo-ing, and that many found the movie overestimated, boring and even despicable in its reactonary plea for war.

It’s official: Aaron Eckhart (Thank You For Smoking) has joined the cast of Chris Nolan’s The Dark Knight, reports Variety. Eckhart will feature in the role of district attorney Harvey Dent, a.k.a. Two-Face. Actor Tommy Lee Jones previously played the part in 1995’s Batman Forever.
There had been rumours that Edward Norton and Jamie Foxx were also in consideration, but Latino Review (correctly, as it now turns out) predicted that Eckhart was the leading contender to play Dent in the Batman Begins sequel. The Golden Globe nominated American actor was last seen in The Wicker Man remake and as Sgt. Lee Blanchard in The Black Dahlia.
