Moviehole had a chance to speak with Pirates of the Caribbean co-writers Terry Rossio, who briefly mentioned the chances of a fourth film: “It’s like the fourth Indiana Jones picture - there are forces in play to make it happen, and forces in play to make it not happen. I think we will try to write a screenplay. I can’t say if we’ll be able to solve the challenge of making a good fourth film, or if our screenplay will be enough to get a film made.”
Rossio also spoke about Keith Richards (who’s been cast as the father of Johnny Depp’s Captain Sparrow): “Well, you don’t hire Keith Richards to get a guy who shows up in the morning, on time, wearing a suit and tie. You get a guy who shows up at night, on time, with a bottle of wine. There were good times on the set.” The full interview can be read here.

According to Variety, Warner Home Video has invested upwards of $1million in a new director’s cut of Wolfgang Peterson’s Troy, which was originally released in cinemas in 2004 starring Brad Pitt, Eric Bana and Orlando Bloom.
The director said that time constraints and ratings pressures took their toll on the theatrical version (which grossed over half a billion dollars worlwide but was considered a box office failure in the US), and that this new cut is more the film he wants it to be. “It’s very violent, but that’s Homer and ‘The Iliad.’” The director’s cut will premiere at the Berlin Film Festival later this month before it opens in German cinemas. If it proves to be a success, the new cut may play in cinemas in other countries aswell, but it will definitely be released on DVD (with a new commentary track and additional bonus features) later this year.
