apprentice.jpgWalt Disney pictures are developing a live action version of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, based upon the poem by Goethe which was famously adapted into an animated segment of Fantasia accompanied by music from Paul Dukas.

The live action feature is though to be a starring vehicle for Nicolas Cage who will also produce alongside Todd Garner. The script is being delivered by Lawrence Konner and Eragon screenwriter Mark Rosenthal.

Cage will next be seen in Sony’s feature film adaptation of the Marvel comic book Ghost Rider.

truecolorssmall.jpgIn August of this year, British author Karen Traviss will contribute another title to the Star Wars Republic Commando series of novels.

Traviss has written three bestselling Star Wars novels: Star Wars Republic Commando: Hard Contact (2004), Star Wars Republic Commando: Triple Zero (2006) and Star Wars Legacy of the Force: Bloodlines.

starwars30small.jpgLending weight to rumors that have been circulating for some time, the Associated Press reports that we can expect to see a new Star Wars DVD release this year. This follows a similar news story back in October where a Lego booklet seemed to indicate that a new product was in the works.

In a financial statement from Hasbro Inc, Chief Executive Al Verrecchia said that he expected Star Wars to continue to be a strong performer with Lucas planning a video release for this year’s 30th anniversary, a Star Wars animated TV show next year and a live-action Star Wars TV show in 2009.

Whether this 30th Anniversary edition will contain any enhancements or additional footage is unknown, but one can assume that this will be a 6 disk set.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
