katieholmessmall.jpgThe Wall Street Journal has been speaking to Katie Holmes’ spokesperson about why the actress will not be reprising the role of Rachel Dawes in Batman Begins sequel The Dark Knight. This follows speculation that the reason that the new Mrs. Cruise wasn’t offered the gig was perhaps because of what some have described as a ‘weak’ performance in the well received 2005 franchise reboot.

“We never got to the negotiating stage” for the film, said Julie Polkes, Holmes’ representative. “Katie was offered [”Dark Knight”] but was unable to accept the role because of scheduling conflicts. She was in the process of negotiating for another project.” Instead, Holmes will star in the low budget feature Mad Money with Queen Latifah.

“Thomas Crown 2, for all intents and purposes, will happen. The script came in two days ago and it’s good.” said the Irish thesp,  “We’ve announced it, we’ve said to the world that we’re going to do it — come hell or high water, we’re going to do it. The bar is high on this one, the expectation is high on it.”

grindhousesmall1.jpgQuentin Tarantino has been spilling the beans on Grindhouse in the March edition of Empire magazine, in particular his half of the grimy double-header, Deathproof.

“the first hour is simply a bunch of cool girls talking, it’s sort of my Eugene O’Neill play with hot chicks”, says the director, going on to reveal that his movie has changed at least four times during the shoot from rock ‘n roll movie to girl-gang movie to road movie.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
