The X-Realms’ very own Silmarillion spent a day at the weekend exploring Baltimore in County Cork, Ireland, a location rumored to be used for the Batman Returns sequel, The Dark Knight.
This trip was prompted by an interview where Sir Michael Caine mentioned Baltimore as a location. Batman-on-Film claims that Baltimore in Ireland “will possibly be the location of a Batmobile chase scene.” Baltimore is a quiet harbour town in western County Cork, with a population of just over two hundred. One of the most notable landmarks in the area is the Baltimore Beacon, also known as Lot’s Wife, a large stone structure at the entrance to the harbour.

Actor Dylan Baker is currently promoting his new series Drive (Fox) and sat down with iFilmMagazine to speak about his role in Spiderman 3. Baker played Dr. Connors in the first two Spiderman films and confirmed that he will also make an appearance in the third: “I am in SPIDER-MAN 3, and my wife Becky Ann Baker is also in the movie, she plays James Cromwell’s wife and Bryce Dallas Howard’s mother.”
Fans of the comics know that Dr. Connors turns into the villaneous The Lizard, and Baker hints that if the films go on, we might get to see that transformation happen: “In this one I am still in my business suit and that’s all I’ll say. I’m kind of the guy that Peter Parker needs to come to whenever he has those quandaries about what’s going on… All I can say is we’re going to see a lot more of [me] at some point if what Sam says is true, and Sam is the guy who knows, so I am sticking with him.”

Paul Greengrass, the director of United 93, will next write and direct a film about the aftermath of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, reports Variety.
The film will be based on Rajiv Chandrasekaran’s book “Imperial Life in the Emerald City: Inside Iraq’s Green Zone” and Greengrass will commence work on the project after he completes The Bourne Ultimatum, which is currently in post-production.
Chandrasekaran’s (who was the Washington Post’s Baghdad bureau chief during the invasion) book is essentially about the chaotic attempts of the United States to bring down Iraq leader Saddam Hussein and set up a provisional government in his place.

Al Gough has told Sci-Fi Wire that the story he has co-written for The Mummy 3 with Miles Millar will input a new spin on the franchise-
“Stephen Sommers and his partner, Bob Ducsay, … approached us and said, ‘Steve doesn’t want to write the third movie. Would you guys be interested?’” said Gough, ” and we were like, ‘Well, it’s a third.’ But then they had a concept for it that we really liked. They had an idea for the movie, which is something we always wanted to do. So we’re like, ‘Well, if we don’t do it, they’re going to do it in this movie. We figured out a really good family story with Rick and Evie, and [their son] Alex is now grown up. So it’s really interesting.”

George Lucas revealed earlier this month that Indiana Jones will return to the big screen in May 2008.

The Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris indie hit Little Miss Sunshine beat out the films Babel, The Departed, Dreamgirls and The Queen to win the prestigious Producer’s Guild of America (PGA) award, as voted by the PGA’s 3′300 members.
At a $8 million budget, Little Miss Sunshine is the least expensive PGA winner ever. Fox Searchlight had acquired the picture following last year’s Sundance Festival in Toronto.
Tom Cruise presented the award to producer Mark Turtletaub, who singled out screenwriter Micheal Arndt in his acceptance speech. 11 of the 17 last PGA winning films went on to win the Best Motion Picture Oscar at the Academy Awards.

Columbia Pictures execs recently got their first look at Sam Raimi’s Spiderman 3, and it seems that what they saw convinced them. Because according to Variety, they have opened talks with David Koepp to write a script for a potential fourth film.
Koepp was responsible for the screenplay of the first of Raimi’s Spiderman films, released in 2002, and most recently handed in a draft for Indiana Jones IV that was approved by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. Alvin Sargent went on to script Spiderman 2 and 3.
Columbia are now said to have started outlining Spiderman 4. But if the film does get developed, the studio will have to negotiate new deals with Raimi, and principle actors Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and James Franco, who’s contracts expire with the third film released this May.
