It has been widely reported that filmmaker Robert Rodriguez was eyeing actress Angelina Jolie for the part of Ava Lord in Sin City 2, the upcoming sequel to his adaptation of the Frank Miller graphic novel. Jolie herself has confirmed as much, but scheduling conflicts have so far prevented the project from taking off.
According to a rumour over at Cinema Blend, Rodriguez and his team are now considering other actresses for the part, and are currently in talks with Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener, The Fountain) to star in the storyline that will be based on the Sin City comic substory ‘A Dame To Kill For’. The site is however adamant that the rumour is unconfirmed at this point.

Actress Sigourney Weaver (Alien, The Ice Storm) has hinted that she may possibly be involved in James Cameron’s upcoming epic undertaking Avatar.
Aint-it-cool-news received word from a reader who saw the actress on the French show “Le Grand Journal”, on which she was initially asked if she would do another Alien film. Apparently, Weaver said no, stating that everything has already been said about that creature forher. However, she claimed she would be making a big science-fiction movie with James Cameron that she couldn’t talk too much about. (There is of course the possibility that Weaver is refering to Cameron’s Battle Angel, and not Avatar.)

David Koepp, who’s Indiana Jones IV script draft was the one that finally got approved by all relevant parties (i.e. George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford), shared some thoughts on the project with FilmStew.com.
He confirms that Ford’s age is being taken into account, suggesting that if it were not already in the script, the actor would have requested for references to this being added himself. Koepp also insists that “you can’t write a fan script. You have to pretend that this movie exists without the other one. […] The worst thing to do would be to have him make reference to things he said in the first movie, like to pun on lines of dialogue.” The full interview can be read here.

Danny Boyle’s (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) much delayed new film Sunshine will finally come to theaters this spring, and ComingSoon.net has exclusively unveiled the first trailer. While it unfortunately reuses Clint Mansell’s brilliant theme from the Requiem for a Dream score that was slaughtered to death the in the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers ad campaigns, the clip gives off a very promising vibe.
Sunshine stars Rose Byrne, Cliff Curtis, Chris Evans, Cillian Murphy and Michelle Yeoh. The plot: Fifty years from now, the sun is dying, and mankind is dying with it. Our last hope: a spaceship and a crew of eight men and women. They carry a device which will breathe new life into the star. But deep into their voyage, out of radio contact with Earth, their mission is starting to unravel. There is an accident, a fatal mistake, and a distress beacon from a spaceship that disappeared seven years earlier. Soon the crew is fighting not only for their lives, but their sanity.
