evamendessmall.jpgAmerican actress Eva Mendes has been speaking to lad’s mag Maxim about her role in Ghost Rider. In the movie, Mendes plays Roxanne Simpson, girlfried of Johnny Blaze played by Nicolas Cage.

“I wanted to make comic book fans happy.” said Mendes,  “The original Roxanne was blonde and blue-eyed, but she also had huge bajoongas. If I gain weight it goes to my boobs and my butt. I figured since I can’t be blonde and blue-eyed, I’ll at least have her bra size. So the bajoongas got big. They were out of control.”

doloressmall.jpgDuring an interview with Times2, British actress Imelda Staunton spoke briefly about her role in the fifth Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Staunton plays Dolores Umbridge, a Senior Undersecretary to Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge, who is installed at Hogwarts as the new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor. “Dolores is a vision in pink taffeta but a nasty piece of work,” Staunton says. “At first I thought, ‘Ooh, a Harry Potter, that’ll be fun’. But at the film’s heart is real tragedy, and I found myself having four months of intense acting, followed by occasional wand-waving for the next six.”

Staunton will be playing opposite her old friend Emma Thompson, who plays Professor Sybil Trelawney. The two actresses have appeared together numerous times on television in film in projects that include Sense and Sensibility, the comedy show Fry and Laurie and the Kenneth Branagh film Peter’s Friends.

deathproof_lead.jpgThe South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival is putting out a call to filmmakers who would like to submit their best “grindhouse trailer,” in honor of the April release from Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, Grindhouse. A sample of the best submissions will be judged by Rodriguez himself, and presented during SXSW, on March 11, 2007.

Filmmakers have a deadline of February 12 to submit their “grindhouse trailer” (no longer than two minutes in length) to SXSW. The trailer should be made for a fictional feature-film, just like those being made by celebrity directors Eli Roth and Rob Zombie for Grindhouse. From those submissions, Rodriguez will determine the best of the bunch, and it will screen during a special presentation entitled “Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse 101” on Sunday, March 11. During the presentation, Rodriguez will share stories and footage from the making of the upcoming Dimension Films release.

lucassmall.jpgHere’s a little snippet of information that appeared to slip through the net following the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade at the beginning of the month-

In an interview with an unidentified source, George Lucas said that he’s seen both the new “Battlestar Galaticia,” as well as Joss Whedon’s “Firefly,” both live-action television dramas set in the intergalactic world.

“Ours will be very different,” said Lucas. “It’s very Star Wars, but it doesn’t involve the Skywalkers.” The characters come from the same universe, Lucas added, but the stories are, “a little bit more adult.” Hopefully, he added, “it will be something most people have never seen on television before.”

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
