ABC has been showing reruns of J.J. Abrams’ popular TV series Lost ever since the show went on winter break at the end of November. This week marks Lost’s return with new episodes to be aired every Wednesday night when ‘The 23rd Psalm’ airs on ABC in the United States. Lost tells the tale of a group of plane crash survivors stranded on an island. Not only must they struggle to find a way off the island, but also to maintain some order amongst themselves when more and more islanders are confronted with some of the island’s often fatal secrets. Thanks to its thick layers of various themes, clues and mysteries, the series has amassed a huge fanbase across the globe and has also found itself critically-acclaimed, having won several Emmys (the TV equivalent of the Oscars).

‘The 23rd Psalm’ is the tenth episode of season 2 and will feature flashbacks of Mr. Eko, one of the second season’s newly introduced characters (survivors from the tail end section of Flight 815, previously believed to have perished completely in the crash). As the religious minded Mr. Eko begins to interrogate Charlie about his Virgin Mary statue (which the latter found at a crash site of another plane and had been employed to smuggle and store drugs), Claire begins to lose faith in the recovering addict when she learns of his secret. Meanwhile, tension between the triangle of Jack, Kate and Sawyer builds when Kate gives the Sawyer a much needed haircut.

The series will continue with episode 11 ‘The Hunting Party’ (January 18), episode 12 ‘Fire and Water’ (January 25) and episode 13 ‘Admissions’ (February 2). Further titles and airing dates have not been confirmed so far, to our knowledge. Season 2 will be comprised of twenty-five episodes in total. Channel 4 in the UK is still currently showing the final batch of episodes from the first season, with no word yet on when the second season will be broadcast. Anyone who wishes to catch up with the show can find a seven-disc DVD set of Season One, which was released a few months ago. Next to all twenty-five episodes of the first season the set is also stacked with extra features such as insightful commentary tracks and behind the scenes looks.
