The Hollywood Reporter is running an article which details how New Line Cinema is looking ahead to next December already, when Chris Weitz’s adaptation of the first His Dark Materials book, The Golden Compass, is released in cinemas. According to the report, the studio has started an awareness campaign similar to that for The Lord of the Rings, compiling a promotional brochure with photos from and details on cast and crew.
New Line’s marketing president Rolf Mittweg said: “The intention is to tell the world that next year, next Christmas, a major blockbuster from New Line is arriving at a screen near you. It wasn’t geared to the awards season. If it happens, that would be nice.” He said the booklet was earmarked for exhibitors, distributors and the media.
