Babylon 5: The Lost Tales (Set Picture)A month ago we reported about Warner confirming the making of a new Babylon 5 movie that will go directly to DVD. B5 creator J. Michael Straczynski (JMS), who wrote the screenplay and is directing Babylon 5: The Lost Tales, as the DVD movie is titled, announced on his B5 blog (which features updates on the filming process and pictures from the set) that filming wrapped in the beginning of December.

He also offers some insight into the movie’s plot: “This first DVD, entitled “Voices in the Dark,” covers the same 72 hour period of time as Sheridan travels on board a Presidential Cruiser en route to Babylon 5 from Minbar for a celebration marking the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Interstellar Alliance. One part of the story follows Sheridan as he picks up an unexpected visitor on the edge of Centauri space, Prince Regent Dius Vintari, and a warning about what will come afterward delivered by the techno-mage, Galen. The other part of the story is set aboard Babylon 5, as Colonel Lochley summons a priest from Earth space to deal with a problem that may have dark supernatural overtones. The two parts of the greater story intersect at certain key plot and thematic points, so that they overlap and complement each other while telling separate, but simultaneous, stories.”

theshadowsmall.jpgFollowing our earlier report that Sam Raimi would be bringing virtually the entire back catalogue of Smith and Street’s pulp heroes to the big screen, the Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Columbia has acquired the rights to The Shadow with the Spider-Man helmer set to produce. The crime fighter first appeared in July 1930 and has already been bought to the cinema before in the guise of several cliffhanger serials in the late ’30s and ’40s and the 1994 Universal feature starring Alec Baldwin.

For this version Siavash Farahani will write the screenplay. “I’ve been a passionate Shadow fan ever since I was a kid and have long dreamed of bringing this character to the screen,” said Raimi. The influence of The Shadow can be seen clearly in Batman, V for Vendetta and even Raimi’s own Darkman.

bruce01small.jpgAICN have published a picture from My Name is Bruce, starring Bruce Campbell.

My Name Is Bruce is being produced by Dark Horse Indie, the new joint venture production company created by Dark Horse Entertainment and Image Entertainment. Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Army of Darkness) is starring and directing. He will also produce the project with another Oregon resident, Dark Horse president Mike Richardson.

My Name Is Bruce is the tale of a small town set upon by demons after a group of teen-agers unwittingly unleash an ancient curse. Campbell, playing himself, is kidnapped off the set of a B horror movie and, despite his protestations that he’s just an actor, is forced to play the role of his heroic movie character in order to save the town. Mark Verheiden (The Mask, TimeCop) has written the screenplay.

2008 U.S. Presidential election

quoteI prefer Obama to McCain. Now, McCain’s better than average for a Republican. And though his ads are intellectually offensive, he’s just bowing to his campaign masters and would calm down and be more sane once in office and not campaigning. But I have a few concerns with McCain on foreign policy. He’s not a full-fledged Neocon. That’s good. He opposed Reagan on Lebanon. Good. He was critical of Bush’s initial strategy in Iraq. That’s good. But there’s a problem. He thinks the Vietnam war was winnable and that the US shouldn’t have withdrawn. He’s also eager to spread democracy with force. This just isn’t a good set of beliefs for inheriting Iraq.quote
