New Line Cinema has launched the official website for His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass exactly one year prior to the film’s theatrical release (December 7, 2007 - the site went live late last night). As well as information on the filmmakers and the film (very useful if you’re unfamiliar with the books, and not too spoilerish either) it features a dozen or so new images from the film (including lots of first looks at certain characters) as well as concept art of some elements that still need to be created with computer wizardry, such as the ice bears.
“The Golden Compass already has a remarkable following thanks to the success of the books and there’s a great deal of anticipation for this film,” said New Line Marketing President Rolf Mittweg. “We’re excited to share some of these first images from the production with fans all over the world, and to introduce this story to people who may not be familiar with the books.”
