A new teaser-like image based on a film still from His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass has surfaced at BridgeToTheStars.net. It is only the second image directly from the film that has been published so far and like the first it depicts Mrs. Coulter (Nicole Kidman) and Lyra (Dakota Blue Richards). The difference is that this new shot’s perspective offers the first proper look at the movie’s young central character, showing Lyra from the front. You can view the new image in our gallery by following this link.
Dakota Blue Richards had been chosen from over 10′000 contestants in an open casting audition, and no photos of her whatsoever were publically released until now, almost two months into the shooting of the film at Shepperton Studios and other assorted locations in the UK.

Roger Corman, the prolific American producer with over 370 low-budget B-movies and TV projects under his belt is set to make Space 3001, a $20 million sci-fi action picture with John Davison says The Hollywood Reporter. At this stage it’s not clear if this movie will disrupt the veteran’s plans to release Deathrace 3000 in 2008.
The pair will jointly finance the project through their respective companies, New Horizons and Cowboy Outfit LLC, in conjunction with the Irish Merlin Film Fund run by Kieran Corrigan. With Sam Straider writing the screenplay, Space 3001 will commence production in the next years at Corman’s Irish studio Concorde Anois.

Jagshemash! In the past few months leading up to the release of shock comic Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat, there has been a steadily-rising amount of hype for the film. Let me just state for the record that I was first in line, having long been an enormous fan of HBO’s “Da Ali G. Show” where Borat originated (amongst two other characters played by Cohen.) This is not the first feature film to spin-off from the TV series; Cohen brought his other persona, Ali G., to the big screen a few years back in Ali G.: InDaHouse. Despite the fact that InDaHouse did not work for me (due almost completely to the fact that it was scripted and thus took all the magic out of Cohen’s work,) I had a very good feeling about Borat.
By the end of the movie I was assured of what I had suspected within the first five minutes: Borat is easily the funniest movie of the year, and one of the funniest movies in a long time. If you’re young enough to get it, you will laugh, hard.
