Following the announcement that 20th Century Fox and Universal had pulled out of the film adaptation of Halo, and despite producer Peter Jackson’s initial resilience about the project seeing life, it seems that for the time being, there will be no Halo film after all. Jackson’s studio, Wingnut Films, issued the following statement:
“As was previously confirmed, we deeply regret that both Universal and Fox did not choose to move forward with financing the Halo film under the original terms of the agreement. At this time Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, along with their partner, Microsoft, have mutually agreed to postpone making a feature film based on the Halo video game universe until we can fulfill the promise we made to millions of Halo fans throughout the world that we would settle for no less than bringing a first class film to the big screen. We are fully supportive of Director Neill Blomkamp’s vision of the film. Neill is a tremendously gifted filmmaker and his preliminary work on Halo is truly awe-inspiring. While it will undoubtedly take a little longer for Halo to reach the big screen, we are confident that the final feature film will be well worth the wait.”

Horror genre stars Leigh Whannell and James Wan, creators of the successful Saw franchise have indicated that Saw III may be their last. Having just topped the U.S. Box Office on its opening weekend, Whannell said “I don’t know personally if I would want to do it [a fourth film] or not. As a creator, I’m starting to feel like I’m painting with the same brush. I’m really happy with the third film and in some ways I would not mind going out on top.”
Despite rumors that have surfaced following his recent arrest, shamed star Mel Gibson will not be revisiting his Lethal Weapon or Mad Max franchises.

Since his third debut at E3, Master Chief has been silent. News surrounding the third installment in the Halo series has been sparse, but as Bungie continues to work on Halo 3 new details are emerging.
I prefer Obama to McCain. Now, McCain’s better than average for a Republican. And though his ads are intellectually offensive, he’s just bowing to his campaign masters and would calm down and be more sane once in office and not campaigning. But I have a few concerns with McCain on foreign policy. He’s not a full-fledged Neocon. That’s good. He opposed Reagan on Lebanon. Good. He was critical of Bush’s initial strategy in Iraq. That’s good. But there’s a problem. He thinks the Vietnam war was winnable and that the US shouldn’t have withdrawn. He’s also eager to spread democracy with force. This just isn’t a good set of beliefs for inheriting Iraq.
