Star Wars creator George Lucas sat down with MTV and shed a little more light on the future of one of the most successful franchises of all time. Details about the upcoming live-action Star Wars television series have been scarce and cryptic, but Lucas gave a few deserved hints. “We haven’t started yet; I start that next year,” says Lucas. He also noted that “None of the Skywalker story, none of that stuff is in there,” and added that the series will center around “people who were in Star Wars but were not main characters.” The live-action series, which producer Rick McCallum has stated will be seen sometime within the decade, will take place within the 20-year span between Star Wars Episodes III and IV. Lucas will write the entire first season, which will consist of hour-long episodes, before shooting even begins, with the series eventually totalling at 100 episodes when it’s finished.
