In a recent phone interview, Star Wars creator George Lucas gave a few updates on future Lucasfilm projects. According to Lucas, the new Clone Wars series is currently in development, and while he says the show has not yet been sold to a network yet, it should be ready to air next year. Like the 2-D Clone Wars shorts that aired on Cartoon Network, the new series - which will presented in 3-D and in half-hour installments - will depict the events that take place between Star Wars Episodes II and III. Lucas says that the central prequel characters, such as Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, will appear in the show, but will not be voiced by the actors that played them in the films. “There’s nobody famous,” adds Lucas.

Critics have been trying to stick a fork in the Rocky franchise for years. The first inspiring tale was warmly received and is quite rightly regarded as a cinematic classic, however, the grotesquely overblown parade of revenge movies that followed, culminating in a poor fifth outing in 1990 effectively tarnished the Itallion Stallion’s legacy. Now Stallone intends to put things right this Christmas with a sixth and final outing for the Philly bomber, returning to the character’s roots to explore deeper themes than pugilistic vengeance and educating commies about the benefits of democracy.

IGN was present at “An Evening with Christopher Nolan” a few days ago and are now running some quotes of the Batman Begins director. Nolan stated that The Dark Knight would explore the themes set up in Batman Begins: “the last scene of Batman Begins suggests a strong direction we wanted to take the story in. It absolutely carries on with a lot of the thematic concerns and hopefully takes it someplace new.”
Nolan also let slip that another well-established villain from the comics would feature in the film, though the director was hush about it. Asked whether or not Harvey Dent a.k.a. Two-Face makes an appearance in The Dark Knight, he said: “I don’t want to go into too many specifics. Yes, he is.”

DOA: Dead or Alive is a film based on the series of videogames from Techmo that bare the same name. Corey Yuen (The Transporter, So Close) directs an international cast of eye candy and martial artists in the story of a Fighting Tournament with a sinister secret.
The first three sequences in DOA consist of backstory for the three main female characters. If you’ve sat through these scenes and find yourself tutting and shaking your head then get up and leave the theatre. If however, like me, you sit through the tale of Kasumi’s (Devon Aoki) missing brother, Tina’s (Jaime Pressley) quest to prove that she can really fight despite being a wrestler and assasin-come-thief Christie (Holly Valance) being double crossed by her partner… if you sit through these scenes smiling at the hokey dialogue and enjoying the comic book action choreography then relax, and enjoy the rest of the film.
