Splash News has published the first pictures of Will Smith from the location shoot of the upcoming I Am Legend. The images show Smith as Robert Neville, the main character from the movie adapatation of Richard Mathesons apocalyptic novel, due for release next year. Recent reports and images now suggest that this new adaptation will take place in a contaminated New York, with the immune Doctor Neville attempting to find a cure for the disease that has turned the city into a no-go zone. In this sense it will be much closer in theme to the 1976 version, The Omega Man, which depicted Neville as a biological weapons researcher trying to produce a serum to cure the last few survivors of the plague.
