CroweFollowing the recent tragedy of the death of Steve Irwin comes news that actor Russell Crowe will be playing the role of The Crocodile Hunter himself in a forthcoming biopic.

Crowe, who was a close friend of Irwin, is apparently already in talks with Universal Pictures about the film, mere weeks after his fellow Aussie was killed in an accident with a stingray.

According to an inside source, “It’s not about money for Russell - it’s about honoring a friend. Steve once told Russell that he wanted him to play him in a movie version of his life.”

LedgerIn an exclusive interview with Dark Horizons, Heath Ledger - who, it has recently been announced, will be playing the role of the Joker in the next Batman film, The Dark Knight.

Ledger shared a little insight on the role, saying that while he loathes comic book movies, “I thought what Christopher Nolan did with Batman was actually really good, really well directed, and Christian Bale was really great in it.”

Ledger shed a little light on what his Joker is going to be like onscreen, saying that “He’s going to be really sinister and it’s going to be less about his laugh and his pranks and more about just him being just a fucking sinister guy.” The Dark Knight is expected in theaters in 2008.

2008 U.S. Presidential election

quoteI prefer Obama to McCain. Now, McCain’s better than average for a Republican. And though his ads are intellectually offensive, he’s just bowing to his campaign masters and would calm down and be more sane once in office and not campaigning. But I have a few concerns with McCain on foreign policy. He’s not a full-fledged Neocon. That’s good. He opposed Reagan on Lebanon. Good. He was critical of Bush’s initial strategy in Iraq. That’s good. But there’s a problem. He thinks the Vietnam war was winnable and that the US shouldn’t have withdrawn. He’s also eager to spread democracy with force. This just isn’t a good set of beliefs for inheriting Iraq.quote
