vadersmall.jpgAs far back as 1983 fans on Usenet were debating Star Wars online. However, it wasn’t until George Lucas announced the filming of the Star Wars prequel trilogy in 1994 that the number of sites and communities dedicated to that ‘galaxy far, far away’ rocketed. Over the following years new electronic communities and fansites emerged, dedicated to reporting news from and speculating upon the new movies. A whole ’spoiler culture’ was born with sites competing to be the first to report the latest prequel scoops. This culminated in the release of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith in 2005, a point at which the popularity of the spoiler sites peaked.

Optimus PrimeThe ‘announcement trailer’ for Michael Bay’s upcoming live-action Transformers film adaptation may have been one of the most watch trailers this summer, but it contained not a single scene from the film. It has recently been suggested that the therefore first real trailer of the movie will be released near the end of the year. Nelson, the moderator of Michael Bay’s official message board, responded to fan inquiries concerning the real trailer by stating that one will be out “(b)etween the Thanksgiving holiday (last thursday of November) and Christmas.” Nelson is known to be in frequent contact with Bay, and also updates the director’s filming blog.

SaphiraEragon fansite Shurtugal.com received an exclusive high-resolution shot of Eragon’s computer-generated dragon Saphira clad in battle armour. Glimpses of the dragon could be caught in the trailer for the film which was released last week, but this image marks the first high-res movie still of Saphira, presumably taken from the film’s climax during the battle at Farthen Dur, the secret dwelling of the rebel group who call themselves the Varden. Use the following links to load the image in the size of you choice: small (900×484 pixels) - medium (1300×700) - large (1850×995) - ultra (3000×1614)

Eragon opens in cinemas December 15. Click here to discuss the movie on the X-Boards.

The InvisibleHollywood Pictures has premiered the new trailer for director David S. Goyer’s supernatural thriller The Invisible (opening in cinemas January 26) on MySpace. Goyer has established himself in the genre writing films such as Dark City, Blade (he also directed Blade: Trinity), Batman Begins and the upcoming Jumper, and will next pen The Dark Knight, Thor and Captain America.

In The Invisible, Justin Chatwin plays a young man who is attacked and left for dead, then finds himself in limbo, invisible to the living and racing against time to find his body before he truly perishes. The only person who may be able to save him is his attacker, a troubled girl (Margarita Levieva) on the run from the law.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
