Seibertron.com has posted a clear shot of the full-scale Bumblebee model on the set of Michael Bay’s Transformers, the live-action adaptation of the nineteen-eighties cartoon. The picture offers a glimpse at the full body of Bumblebee in his robot mode, seen from above, allowing the first good look at the Autobot.

Meanwhile, two photos of a shot setup using cardboard stands for many of the Autobots and Decepticons appearing in the film have also surfaced on the net. You may be able to discern first looks at the likes of Starscream, Brawl (or Bonecrusher?), Frenzy and Jazz on them.

J.K. RowlingUpdated 12 Sep 12.40pm: Rowling has denied the content of the report below on her official site: “Oh pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease. I haven’t written 750 pages of book seven, and if I had, I’d be very worried, as I’m not close to finishing it yet.”

Original report: This may not come from the most reliable source, but at this point I’ll take almost any news on the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series. The British tabloid paper The Daily Mail quotes Potter author J.K. Rowling as saying “I’m up to about 750 pages now, but I’m not telling anyone what happens to Harry”. The same article claims that Rowling is half-way through writing the seventh and possibly final book, which reads very odd for two reasons: 1) ‘half-way through’ plus ‘750 pages in’ would amount to a 1500 pages book (a page count only the very very optimistic Potter fans would dream of), and 2) book seven is definitely the final book, not just possibly, as Rowling has confirmed herself several times over.

joanchen_lead.jpgFocus Features will release Lust, Caution, a film based on a 26-page short story by famed Chinese writer Eileen Chang, in which a group of patriotic students plot to assassinate the intelligence chief in the Japanese-backed Chinese government during the World War II era.

The film will be directed by Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Brokeback Mountain), who has started assembling his cast: following Tony Leung (Best Actor winner at Cannes), Tang Wei and Chinese-American popstar Leehom Wang, actress Joan Chen (The Last Emperor, Twin Peaks) has now signed onto the project, according to the Associated Press.

thehobbit.jpgVariety reports that over the next few years, MGM is planning to release several new blockbuster films in the $150 million to $200 million budget bracket. Apparently the Studio is preparing Terminator 4, a sequel to The Thomas Crown Affair starring Pierce Brosnan and The Hobbit helmed by Peter Jackson, which may be made in two parts.

After reading the news, AICN asked Peter Jackson about the Hobbit project who said that although he had not yet been officially approached he would be interested. Before fans get too excited though, a potential legal dispute will have to be resolved, with MGM owning the distrubution rights and New Line owning the right to make the film.

2008 U.S. Presidential election

quoteI prefer Obama to McCain. Now, McCain’s better than average for a Republican. And though his ads are intellectually offensive, he’s just bowing to his campaign masters and would calm down and be more sane once in office and not campaigning. But I have a few concerns with McCain on foreign policy. He’s not a full-fledged Neocon. That’s good. He opposed Reagan on Lebanon. Good. He was critical of Bush’s initial strategy in Iraq. That’s good. But there’s a problem. He thinks the Vietnam war was winnable and that the US shouldn’t have withdrawn. He’s also eager to spread democracy with force. This just isn’t a good set of beliefs for inheriting Iraq.quote
