John WooDirector John Woo has has cast Chow Yun-Fat, Ken Watanabe, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai and Taiwanese supermodel Lin Chi-Ling in The Battle of Red Cliff, based upon the Chinese novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The story recounts the final days of the Han Dynasty at the beginning of the third century and the transition to the Three Kingdoms period.

Iin order to recreate the massive scale of the battle scenes which historians believe involved over one million combatants, Woo will shoot with six units simultaneously. Woo is working on the project with long time collaborator Terence Chang, whose Lion Rock company will fund 70% of the $50 million budget. Shooting will commence in March from a screenplay by Wang Hui-ling of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon fame and a release date is planned for the runup to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
