Star Wars creator George Lucas has today given British dramatic outfit the Reduced Shakespeare Company permission to condense the entire Star Wars saga into a twenty minute performance. The theatrical company is famous for staging abridged versions of Shakespeares 37 plays in only 97 minutes in addition to “The complete history of America” and “The Bible: the complete word of God”.
“This is my boyhood dream, in the space of 20 minutes I’m going to be Jabba the Hutt, Jar Jar Binks, Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker,” said Adam Long, the writer, director and star of the piece.

A general rundown of the plot of Hellboy 2 has surfaced online today. Guillermo del Toro’s sequel to his comic book adaptation released in 2004 was only recently picked up by Universal (read our report), and Aint-It-Cool-News has posted what they claim to be a confirmed synopsis for the film. Actors Ron Pearlman and Selma Blair are expected to return for the sequel, which is scheduled for a summer 2008 release. The synopsis contains spoilers, but shies away from being too specific about details.

Actor Paul Giamatti (Sideways, Lady in the Water) is in negotiations to star as sci-fi author Philip K. Dick in an untitled biopic that his production company Touchy Feely Films is producing with Anonymous Content, according to Variety. Dick, who died in 1982, penned more than four dozen books and numerous short stories, with at least seven being adapted for the bigscreen, including Blade Runner, Total Recall, A Scanner Darkly and Minority Report. The nontraditional biopic will interweave the prolific author’s life with his fiction and incorporate elements of his last unfinished novel, The Owl in Daylight. Tony Grisoni (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas) will write the screenplay.

Last year, at what will probably be the last E3 of it’s kind, Nintendo ran a short trailer for a series of simple but attractive puzzle games for the Gameboy Advance that at that point were known as DIGISTYLISH. The second batch of games released was notably more complex than the first. It would appear that Nintendo wanted to test the water with Boundish, Dotstream and Dialhex (covered in the first part of this Bit Generations review, located here) before continuing the series with the games reviewed below.

Warner Bros have announced the theatrical release date for the sixth installment in the Harry Potter franchise, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The film will be released in cinemas November 21, 2008, a release date currently shared by the Will Smith vehicle I am Legend. Screenwriter Steven Kloves will provide the film’s screenplay, having previously adapted the first four Harry Potter books. The fifth Harry Potter movie, meanwhile, is currently still filming and will hit moviehouses in May 2007.

Disney Pictures are offering one very knowledgable Narnia fan the opportunity visit the set of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. The second movie set in the fantasy land created by C.S. Lewis will begin filming next year and is pencilled in for a 2008 theatrical release date. Andrew Adamson is set to return to directing duties with original child cast and Liam Neeson as the voice of Aslan.
