A very impressive teaser trailer for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is now online (see below).

AICN has also reported on TMNT news from the Warner Bros Animation panel from Comic-Con where it has been revealed that Mako is voicing Splinter and Peter Laird has been employed as an advisor for the film. We now also know that Shredder will not be the bad guy and the movie, although almost a reboot, ‘kind of’ continues from the end of the second movie. Casey Jones and April O’Neil will also return.
With Marco Beltrami aiming to write a score as iconic as Elfman’s Batman theme and a tone which will be funny, but not juvenile, this could be good.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first appeared in a comic book published by Mirage Studios in 1984. The crime fighting superheroes were created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird and gained massive popularity through an animated television series, clever merchandising and three movies. The main characters are four anthropomorphic turtles led trained in the ninj arts and led by their sensei, a rat called Master Splinter.
The new movie is 100% CGI produced by Imagi Animation Studios in their state of the art facility in Honk Kong. An early press release said “the PG-rated movie will derive its tone from the original comic-book series and will be slightly grittier than the previous live-action pictures“.
