Ron Moore and David Eick’s gritty remake of the seventies cult show Battlestar Galactica finally continues its run this January. The sci-fi series, an X-Boarders favorite, is currently well into its second season with the most recent episode ‘Pegasus’ (2×10) having aired back in September. Battlestar Galactica tells the story of the last five thousand survivors of the twelve colonies of men, who’s homeworlds were destroyed by the Cylons, merciless but intelligent machines once created by man. The remainder of mankind tries to evade the Cylon pursuit in a fleet headed by the antiquated warship Galactica. Their destination: the legendary thirteenth colony Earth, long believed to exist only in myth, but now their only hope for a safe haven.

Battlestar Galactica Season 2After a mid-season intermission of nearly four months, season two continues with the eleventh episode, entitled ‘The Resurrection Ship (Part 1)’, this Friday, January 6 on the Sci-Fi channel in the United States. UK audiences will get to view the new episode next Tuesday, January 10. ‘Resurrection Ship (Part 1)’ picks up right where ‘Pegasus’ had ended (minor spoilers ahead): Battlestars Galactica and Pegasus (which recently caught up with the fleet by pure chance, both sides unaware of the other’s survival up until then) face off after Tyrol and Helo, two of Galactica’s crew, have been sentenced to death for assaulting the Pegasus’ Executive Officer. But when new intelligence about a Cylon “Resurrection Ship” arrives, Galactica’s Commander Adama and Pegasus’ Admiral Cain must put aside their differences. This fragile alliance could shatter quickly though, when a new revelation concerning Pegasus comes to light.

New episodes of the second half of season two are scheduled to air one week apart. Here’s the exact list of dates and titles:
2×11 Resurrection Ship, Part 1 (6 Jan 2006)
2×12 Resurrection Ship, Part 2 (13 Jan 2006)
2×13 Epiphanies (20 Jan 2006)
2×14 Black Market (27 Jan 2006)
2×15 Scar (3 Feb 2006)
2×16 Sacrifice (10 Feb 2006)
2×17 The Captain’s Hand (24 Feb 2006)
2×18 Downloaded (3 March 2006)
2×19 Lay Down Your Burdens, Part 1 (10 Mar 2006)
2×20 Lay Down Your Burdens, Part 2 (17 Mar 2006)

The first ten episodes of season two were recently released as a three-disc DVD set ‘Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0′, which might be of interest to anyone who can’t wait for a complete season two set or who wants to catch up with the series to enjoy the full experience with the new episodes (or to those who just don’t know what to do with their money). Both season one and the 3 hour mini-series that precedes it are available on DVD aswell. None of these DVDs should be difficult to obtain, if you can’t find them in local stores than just order them online via Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk.

Four trailers for the second half of season two can be viewed at COX.net. They contain lots of footage from the upcoming new episodes.
1. Baltar and Number Six (the relationship changes)
2. President Laura Roslin (dealing with death and chaos)
3. Two Battlestars (Galactica links up with Pegasus)
4. Captain Lee Adama (does he have the will to go on living?)

The Sci-Fi-Channel has confirmed that they have ordered a third season of Battlestar Galactica. The shooting of twenty new episodes will start in February 2006 in Vancouver. Readers who follow the show or who’ve become interested in it are invited to join in to the ongoing Battlestar Galactica discussions at the X-Boards.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
